Macedonian Ecological Society announces the
7TH CONGRESS OF ECOLOGISTS OF NORTH MACEDONIA
WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION

Macedonian Ecological Society invites you to attend the 7th Congress of Ecologists of North Macedonia, with international participation.

The program will be structured into seven sections, encompassing a broad range of topics that reflect the diversity of ecological research conducted in recent years.
The official language of the Congress will be English.

Guidelines for organizing presentations and papers
Important note: Although the Registration form allows presenters to select a preferred type of presentation (speech or poster), the final decision on the presentation type will be made by the scientific board, of which the authors of their conclusion will be informed in due time (posters are the preferred option). This decision aims to dilute the dense congress programme experienced at previous congresses.
Speeches: You will have maximum of 15 minutes to present your speech. The Scientific Board will invite one presenter per thematic section to expand their presentation to 20-25 minutes, as an introductory speech. Please organize the presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint or LibreOffice Impress. Allow for two introductory slides, clear presentation of the methodology, results and discussion, and up to two slides for the conclusions. Aim for no more than 20 slides per presentation. Avoid presentations and slides that contain too much text – graphical images and photographs make the visual experience of the audience richer.
Before the sections start, you will be asked to send via e-mail (congress@mes.org.mk) or transfer your presentations to the computers in the halls, therefore arrive at the congress venue at least one hour before the thematic section begins.
Posters: Prepare your posters in portrait layout, dimensions 110 (height) x 90 (width) cm. Avoid too much text, but include the necessary information on methodology, results and conclusions. If you want to include the Congress’ logo, you can download all versions here.
Papers: We encourage our participants to submit their presentations as a paper in the Macedonian Journal of Ecology and Environment (published by the MES, with an international scientific board).
Instructions for preparation of abstracts
Abstracts should be submitted electronically, using the form at the Registration tab. Following the preliminary review process, they will be compiled in a Congress Abstract book.
Limit your abstracts to five hundred words. Organize the abstract in a way that follows the structure of a full article: few introductory sentences, objective of the work, a shorth methodology, main results, brief discussion, and conclusions. Provide 3-5 key words that are not contained in the paper title.
Citations, references, tables, and figures should not be included.
Publications
All the submitted abstracts will be reviewed and published in an e-Abstract book (October 2026).
After the Congress, authors are welcomed to submit their papers for publication in the “Macedonian Journal of Ecology and Environment” (Macedonian Journal of Ecology and Environment), which offers double peer-review and is edited by an international board.
Other events
An optional excursion will be organized for interested participants, offering a choice between two curated experiences in the surrounding region.
The first option includes a visit to Ohrid, comprising a guided tour of the old town, followed by lunch or dinner at a local restaurant. The arrangement includes transportation, meal, two beverages, professional guiding services, and live music, at a price of approximately 63 EUR per person.
The second option includes a visit to Vevchani, with an organized program consisting of transportation, lunch or dinner, two beverages, professional guiding services, and live music, at a price of approximately 50 EUR per person.
Both options are designed to provide participants with an opportunity to experience the cultural heritage and local traditions of the region in a structured and enjoyable setting.
Only one of the two proposed excursions will be organized, with the destination selected based on participants’ preferences; the option receiving the highest number of registrations will be confirmed.
Please note that the excursion will be organized only if a minimum of 25 participants is reached.

Congress Fees
Regular payment (31st of August 2026)
– Regular fee: 110€
– Master and PhD students: 80€ (Please attach a confirmation document issued from your university)
– Undergraduate students: 30€ (Please attach a confirmation document issued from your university)
Overdue payment (after 1st September 2026) will be charged additional 30€, for a regular fee, or additional 20€ for Master and PhD students fee, and for Undergraduate students.
Visitors: 80€
MES members have 10% discount, but we will require attachment with proof of payment of membership fee or confirmation from MES.
One registration covers the expenses for maximum of two presentations.
Fees cover only the participation at the Congress and publication of the presentation(s) in the Abstract book and the cocktail at the opening ceremony and congress promotional materials.
Additional costs for the gala dinner (including one alcoholic drink, one non-alcoholic drink, salads, soup/stew/ appetizers, a main course, and dessert), estimated at 20–25 EUR, as well as the optional excursion, are to be paid directly to the hotel.
